Chlorine Winterization Program
In-Ground

Chemicals Needed:

Winter Kit 12K or 24K Kit OR Winter Shock & Arctic Blue Algaecide
Kleen-It Filter Cleaner
Surface Cleaner clean water line and exposed surfaces
Pump Protector 1/2 can into impeller area

  1. Have water tested and balanced.

  2. Do all housekeeping. Brush wails of pool. Clean with Surface Cleaner. Vacuum the pool. Remove ladders and accessories. Clean skimmer, pump & lint baskets.

  3. Clean filter with Kleen-lt - the night before closing. This Will prevent the sand from hardening while the system sits idle. Follow instructions on the container.

  4. Drain pool 2" to 4" below the skimmer. Prevent losing pump prime by dosing skimmer valve when pool water level falls below opening and starts to pull air. Install GIZMO, continue lowering water level thru the bottom drain until water reaches desired level

  5. Add Winter Kit OR Winter Shock and Arctic Blue Winter algaecide.

  6. Allow pool to circulate 3-4 hours after chemicals are added.

  7. Cover Pool.

  8. Shut down pump and filter. Filter: remove plug from bottom to allow water to drain out. Remove pressure gauge from filter and store. Prop Multi-port handle up between notches (if you have a winterization position - use that). Pump: add 1/2 can of Pump Protector to housing area. Leave all other valves open, lubricate filter seals. If filter is below water level - see your Pool Dealer.

  9. Automatic Cleaners: if you have a Polaris, drain pump & store cleaner. All other cleaners need to be stored for the winter according to manufacturing directions.

  10. Periodically, as needed, drain excess water from cover. Leave a 1/2 or so of Water on the cover to anchor it down.
