  1. Have water tested and balanced.
  2. Do all housekeeping. Brush wall of pool. Clean with Surface Cleaner. Vacuum the pool. Remove ladders and accessories. Clean skimmer and pump baskets.
  3. Clean filter with Strip Kwik and Kleen-It the night before closing OR several days ahead of time. This will prevent the sand from hardening while the system sits idle during the winter. Follow instructions on the container for proper usage.
  4. Drain pool 2" to 4" below the skimmer. Prevent losing pump prime by
closing skimmer valve when pool water level falls below opening and starts to pull air. Install GIZZMO. Continue lowering water level through the bottom drain until water reaches desired level. *If you do not have a main drain, hook up your vacuum cleaner before lowering level and vacuum to waste to desired level.
  5. Add Basic Off-Season Pool Care Kit according to directions on the box. Allow for circulation of water care products for at least 24 hours before shutting off pump.
  6. Cover Pool. Fill water tubes 2/3rds full of water. This will allow for expansion and contraction of the tubes during temperature changes.
  7. Close down pump and filter. FILTER: remove plug from bottom to allow to drain out. Remove pressure gauge from filter and store. Prop Multiport handle up between notches (if you have a winterization position - put multiport in that position). PUMP: add ½ can of Pump Protector to housing area. Take plug out of housing area. Lubricate o'ring with silicone lubricant. If filter is below water level - see you Pool Dealer.
  8. Automatic Cleaners: take drain plug out of booster pump and store cleaner following manufacturers directions.
  9. Winterize Frog Unit: see attached directions.
  10. Periodically, as needed, drain excess water from cover. ½" or so of water on cover will not be a problem. (Our Cover Savers are ideal for this).

MESH SAFETY COVERS: MID WINTER TREATMENT OF POOL IS NECESSARY. SEE YOUR PROFESSIONAL WATER CARE DEALER FOR MORE INFORMATION.
