Procedure For Vacuuming

  1. Equipment needed: vacuum hose, skimmer-plate adapter, vacuum head and vacuum telescoping pole.

  2. Attach vacuum head to the vacuum pole by squeezing the 2 buttons on the vacuum head "handle" and sliding the vacuum on until the buttons slip into the holes in the pole.

  3. Attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum head. If your vacuum hose has a swivel end, the swivel end should be attached to the vacuum head.

  4. Take the skimmer plate adapter and attach it to the non-swivel hose end. Take the skimmer cover off and place the skimmer vacuum plate down into the skimmer over the basket.

  5. Turn the main drain valve halfway off. (this gives more suction for vacuuming)

  6. Go to the skimmer and check to see that the skimmer vacuum plate has not come unattached.

  7. Start vacuuming at the deep end of the pool. Do not vacuum to fast as you will cause the pool to cloud from stirring the debris.

  8. Check the pressure gauge on the filter a few times while vacuuming. If pressure rises to the backwash level there won't be enough suction to pick up the debris until the filter has been cleaned by the back-washing procedure.

  9. When finished vacuuming, turn the main drain valve back on. Then turn your skimmer valve off.

  10. Go back to the pool and take the skimmer vacuum plate out of the skimmer. Clean the skimmer basket if necessary.

  11. Go to the pump and turn the skimmer valve back on. Leave both main drain and skimmer valves opened. The pump strainer basket and filter pressure should be checked after vacuuming.
*If pool is very dirty or filled with algae, it is better to vacuum to "waste", bypassing the filter. To do this, turn the multi-port.
